Sytske Saskia VanZyverden was born during April in Haarlem, Holland to Leo and Tina VanZyverden. She comes from a home of strong Dutch values. She immigrated to the United States of America as a child with her parents when only six months old. Sytske has one brother and three sisters. She grew up in the East Mill Creek area of the Salt Lake Valley. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1965 and was a model as well as a teacher at Michelle's models during her senior year. Thereafter, she worked for the Southeast Music Company.
On June 17, 1966, she was married to Stephen K. Woodhouse in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder Marion D. Hanks. They are the parents of six children: Stephen Troy, Christiaan Cory, Cameron Tyler, Jayme Parker, Sytske Sjoukje, and Kirsten Helena.
She sang with the Skyline Acappella Choir, the Salt Lake Oratorio Society, and the Dickens Festival Singers. As a member of the LDS Church, she has served as Primary President, Blazer Leader, Choir Director, Stake Young Women's First Counselor, First Counselor in the Ward Young Women Presidency, Spiritual Living Teacher in the Relief Society, Nursery Leader, and First Counselor in the Relief Society of the Dimple Dell Heights Ward. She is currently serving as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple as well as a Church Service Missionary at LDS Business College.
She has served as Executive Vice President of Telesystems Corporation, 1972-1978; Secretary/Treasurer of Eagle Information Systems Corporation, a data processing services company, since 1978: and as a partner in the Rocky Mountain Leasing Company. She has designed and supervised construction of two different homes for her family. She served on many PTA Boards including Sunrise and Lone Peak Elementary Schools. She was a volunteer and teacher's aide at Idaho Springs Elementary in Colorado, also at Sunrise Elementary in Salt Lake City as well as Lone Peak Elementary, Indian Hills Middle School, and Alta High School. She served as a docent for the Anne Frank exhibit in Salt Lake City. She has always been a constant support to her husband in his various Church and business assignments. Of all the assignments she has undertaken, she feels those of wife and mother to be the most significant and important.
