The Neighborhood Party held Wed., Sept. 21st, 2011 on the South Plaza of the College's campus was a celebratory success. A cake cutting at noon, party treats, entertainment, displays, games, and prizes entertained an appreciative crowd of several hundred students, personnel, and friends of the College. At 12:30 pm, 1,000 ping-pong balls were successfully poured from the 10-story building's roof, and 125 of them marked for prizes were enthusiastically redeemed by the lucky participants who caught them. It was a Happy Birthday for LDSBC!
New displays, signage, and an award-winning float in the Days of '47 Parade were just some of the campus activities which celebrated the College's milestone birthday.
125 Days of Service
LDSBC's students chose to celebrate the College's 125th birthday with service. Starting July 14, 2011 – 125 days from the College's birthday on Nov. 15, 2011 – students assisted at a homeless shelter, tied quilts, knitted hats, sponsored a blood drive, collected canned foods for the food bank, and more. Throughout the 125 Days of Service, ongoing service opportunities, directed by the student council, could also be found in a display on the first floor, listed in the Service Corner in the Student Commons area, and on the website. Many students, faculty, and staff accepted the invitation to join the service and became a part of this commemorative moment.
