One of the most powerful discoveries students can make during your time at LDS Business College is an understanding of the gifts, talents and abilities given to you by the Lord “that ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you.” (D&C 88: 80)
Plan to attend the Career Development Conference next Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday, Feb. 28 to learn how to identify what you do best, and how to apply it. This campus-wide, 2-day-long event will help you make those discoveries. To best benefit from this conference, prepare in four important ways:
1. Re-read and prayerfully ponder your patriarchal blessing. This critical document outlines some of your God-given gifts and abilities. (Bring your blessing for your personal reference.)
2. Take the online Strengths Finder™ assessment tool and become familiar with the results. Visit the Employment Center, Room 410, prior to the Conference for a code necessary to take the assessment. On the day of the conference, go to Room 506. The assessment takes about 40 minutes.
3. Go to as many sessions as possible. Most sessions are offered all day. If you go to a session and it’s full, pick another. You’ll have the chance to attend most of the sessions throughout the Conference.
4. Session hosts will provide proof of attendance to those who arrive on time and stay the entire session by stamping your program. Some faculty require attendance. If you use this conference wisely, you’ll come away with new talents, new knowledge and a clearer plan for understanding and executing the next steps of your personal career plan.
